What happens if enough people get involved? By every account grassroots activism was the deciding factor in Alabama, and life-changing for the people who made it happen. 2018 is the year to for us all to make it happen.
WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?
It’s about the economy, democracy, decency and fairness. It’s about electing better representatives at all levels, and holding current MoCs accountable even when we can’t change their votes.
HOW CAN WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
- CALL, WRITE, TWEET, POST The tax bill vote awaits!
- Volunteer with a campaign
- Donate to a campaign
- Show up at MoC offices, protests and rallies
- Join a social justice, education or organizing group
DO WE NEED LITMUS TESTS?
The Democratic party is still divided on what it’s supposed to be. But if we believe in compromise – working across the aisle to find solutions – don’t we have to make room for differences of opinion? Can the party support anti-choice candidates? Can we declare zero tolerance for sexual predators, harassers and jerks – and also believe in innocent until proven guilty?
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
Before DJT, everyone was already busy with other priorities and needs, and juggling limited hours and mindspace. It’s been an exhausting year but we are making progress. Let’s keep it up. We’ll keep offering context and suggesting actions that will nudge us toward a more transparent, more perfect union.
